In February this year, Simbu had filed a defamation suit against producer Michael Rayappan and Vishal Krishna, the then President of the Tamil Nadu Film Producers’ Council for putting his reputation at stake. Michael Rayappan had alleged that Simbu was the reason for Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan’s failure at the box-office. He also said that he had incurred huge losses as the actor did not show up on the sets for most of the time. The case came up for the hearing on Wednesday and Judge Senthilkumar Ramamurthy, who presided over the hearing ordered the removal of Vishal’s name in the case and add the name of government special officer, who is in charge of the ad-hoc committee.

When contacted sources close to Simbu they said that this will be done immediately as the next hearing is on January 3. Michael Rayappan, who went through the court order told DT Next, “I approached council for Simbu’s negligence and he chose to take the legal route. Now that the case is in the court, we will fight this case. I have been honest and transparent in things pertaining to AAA and I will prove that Simbu is the reason for the film’s failure.”
