Haven’t decided on Varma’s release yet: Producer
Producer Mukesh Mehta denied making the recent casting Dhruv Vikram in the remake of Arjun Reddy. The producer also said that no decision has been taken on plans to release Bala’s shelved version on OTT platform
Chennai
Mukesh Mehta, the producer of Varma, which is the shelved version of Arjun Reddy Tamil remake directed by Bala in an interview had said that ‘he may run a poll’ to decide on which platform he could release the film in. He also said that he should have remade the Tamil version with Vijay Deverakonda himself and not Dhruv Vikram. These statements raised eyebrows among Tamil movie buffs. When DT Next contacted Mukesh on his comments, he denied saying anything of that sort and replied, “We haven’t decided on whether we will release Varma. I had only said that we may or may not release the film.” The film was recently passed by the Singapore film certification board and steps are being taken to release Varma in theatres and OTT platforms simultaneously. Netizens have also expressed interest to watch Bala’s version of Arjun Reddy.
Early last year, Mukesh had released a statement saying that his production house is disappointed with Bala’s Varma and would shoot the film from the scratch. Adithya Varma was directed by Gireesayya, the associate director of Sandeep Vaanga. The film opened to positive reviews and Dhruv’s performance was lauded. A source in the know told us, “Mukesh has been trying to sell Varma to distributors but there are no takers for the film yet.” We will have to wait and watch if the shelved film will see the light of the day in near future.
