Hansika Motwani talks to us ahead of the premiere of a video titled A Big Fat Wedding on Thursday. Her previous videos, My Art Indulgence and Snippets from a Simpler View have garnered over 8.5 lakh real-time views to date.

“Ever since I got the idea to start a YouTube channel, the first thing that struck me was the content. I have always been good at social media and what I convey through it. I made it a point not to give my followers a clichéd content. Hence, I discussed with my team of videographer, creative director, and editor on how to go about this. The overwhelming response from about a million people is because of our combined effort,” she opens up.

On sharing about her life and especially, her artwork, which she is passionate about, the actress says that striking a fine balance was a little tricky. “We live in a country where fans are quite curious about the lives of celebrities. I am reticent as much as I am an extrovert. I made sure that the audience, through each of these episodes, gets to know me better. However, I have not given away information that only my close circle of friends and I are privy to. For instance, A Big Fat Wedding is a video we shot in December 2019 at my friend’s wedding. It will have episodes from my bestie’s stag weekend party, sangeet ceremony, and the dress we wore for her wedding,’’ adds Hansika.

Apart from painting, Hansika says that she loves cooking. “I love to cook and I can manage even if my maid doesn’t turn up for work. But what I miss during this lockdown is my air travel. For the last 20 years, I have been taking at least two flights a month. Now, I miss that. Apart from that, I did a couple of virtual photoshoots — with Sunder Ramu and another Hyderabad-based photographer. Sunder is happy with the output and told me that he is now flooded with more virtual photoshoots,” says the Manithan actress.

She also makes it a point to tell us what she hasn’t missed during the lockdown. “Instagram Live! It was a conscious decision to not do a single live session this lockdown. I don’t want to deviate from my purpose of making good content,” Hansika says with a smile. On the work front, she has Maha, Partner, and a web series in various stages of production.
