CHENNAI: A lot has already been discussed about Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan-1 prior to its release today.
Dynamics of theatres and footfall revolved around this movie post COVID-19. The movie opens with Kamal Haasan's voiceover on Chola empire and where the story would lead to from thereon.
First half has brilliant performances by all cast members-- especially Karthi, Vikram, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Parthiban and Sarathkumar. AR Rahman like always steals the show.

Of all, Kalki would have been the happiest to witness a perfect portrayal of his depiction of Cholas. Mani Ratnam has stayed true to the novel as well as tp the art of filmmaking.
Ravi Varman's cinematography is top-notch. Thotta Tharani takes us back to the Chola period.
