Kamal watches PS-1, wishes team on massive success

CHENNAI: Actor Kamal Haasan poured in his praise for Mani Ratnam's magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan-1' and joined the team to watch the movie at a theatre in Chennai on Wednesday night.

'Ponniyin Selvan-1' is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel and chronicles the story of the early days of Arunmozhi Varman, a powerful king of the south who went on to become the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I.
The film released on September 30th worldwide has been receiving positive responses from critics as well as audiences.
The historical drama features an ensemble cast that includes Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobitha Dhulipala, Jayaram, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Prabhu, Vikram Prabhu, Ashwin Kakumanu, Jayachitra, Rahman, Kishore, Riyaz Khan, Arjun Chidambaram, Mohan Raman and Nasser.
Music maestro AR Rahman has composed music for the film with cinematography by Ravi Varman. Backed by Mani Ratnam's own production house Madras Talkies and Allirajah Subaskaran's banner Lyca Productions, the film was released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam and its second part is set to be released in 2023.
