Reporter’s Diary: Mandatory or not? Students await clarity on PM’s session
With Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Parikasha Pe Charcha 2020 postponed to January 20, confusion prevails among the school students and teachers about whether it is still mandatory to attend the interactive session or not.
Chennai
While the School Education Department officials say the programme should be attended by all the students, the Directorate of Matriculation sources say it is meant for the government school students only.
Since students will be busy with revision tests for the board exams, the lack of clarity on the event is worrying many. Also, most of the school managements are clueless about the arrangements to be taken for the Prime Minister’s programme.
Last week, after PM Modi’s interactive programme was scheduled on January 16, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said students who do not have television sets will have to go to schools and attend the programme. However, School Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan said no such instruction has been passed on to schools in the state.
With just a few days to go for the programme and with students preparing for the boards, school managements are awaiting clear instructions from the state government in this regard.
