Living the I life: ‘Conversations with friends have moved on from virus’

Working in children’s publishing is generally fun. It has been a little exhausting now because it’s all online. I’m spending a lot more time on my phone and computer. My company has been giving a few books out for free and organising activities. Putting those together has been challenging. But when I get messages from parents that it’s been engaging and keeping children away from the screens, it feels worth it. Besides the work, I have been in touch with all my old friends during the lockdown. Time is in abundance during these times.
A few days ago I found some building blocks and took them to my nephew. We sat up till late night a built a giraffe with it. A lot of my friends had moved abroad and I spend many of my nights talking to them. Initially, the conversations were about the virus and sharing our worries. But now we have moved on to nicer subjects and the objective is to stay connected. The media is filled with news of the virus and it’s scary. But I have been trying to find something positive in the midst of this. I like to read about animals being taken care of and zoos are maintained.
