After a point, he took permission from the tea vendors and took the glasses outside the stall to various spots and started taking pictures. Rather than just taking photos of tea glass in random spots, Arun decided to make it more interesting. An architecture lover, he started documenting beautiful architectural features of the city through a photography series called Tea Series.

“Chennai is blessed with a lot of old buildings that were built in the 50s, 60s and 70s. Sometimes, the charm of these buildings is lost in the city’s modern architecture. Being a photography and architecture lover, I wanted to bring people’s attention to such old structures. I can just take a photo of the building and document it. But that’s not an interesting exercise. That’s how I started placing a tea glass on such structures and taking photos,” says Arun.

Another aspect of the Tea Series is abstractness and nature. Arun opines that a lot of people don’t pay attention to small things around them. “For eg, two streets in the same locality have different features. Through this photography series, I am also exploring such details about Chennai. The tea glass is traveling along with me.”
