Class 7 boy slips from footboard, run over by MTC bus
A 11-year-old boy and student of Class seven, who was travelling on the footboard of an MTC bus died after he slipped from the bus and was run over by the rear tyres near the T Nagar bus terminus on South Usman Road on Wednesday morning.

The victim was identified as K Saran of Palaniyappa Street, MGR Nagar in Velachery. Police said that Saran was studying in a private school in T Nagar.
The mishap happened on Wednesday at around 9 am when he was travelling in MTC bus (route number M9M) plying from AGS officer’s colony to T Nagar.
Police said that the vehicle was nearing the bus terminus when he was standing on the footboard near the front door along with a group of other students.
When the bus was entering the T Nagar bus terminus, Saran is believed to have tried to deboard the bus along with other students. He slipped and fell off from the footboard and was run over by the rear tyres of the vehicle, police noted. The victim died on the spot.
The other passengers and passers-by on the road immediately rushed him to a private hospital where they declared him dead on arrival. The incident had affected the traffic flow at the commercial hub of the city during morning rush hour for nearly 30 minutes.
Saran’s father Kumar is businessman while his mother is a home maker. Police noted that he travelled to school in MTC bus along with his friends.
Following the incident, the Pondy Bazaar traffic investigation have registered a complaint and have detained the bus driver- Thirugnanasamandam, 38, and conductor- Senthil Kumar, 49, for further inquiry.
