21-year-old history-sheeter hacked to death in Urapakkam
An unidentified gang hacked a 21-year-old history-sheeter in full public view at in Urapakkam on Saturday evening. The deceased, R Veera of Kilambakkam, has an attempt to murder, extortion and assault cases pending against him. He had recently been arrested for robbing Rs 1 lakh at knifepoint at a petrol bunk in Tambaram.

Veera, who came out on bail, was waiting at a tea shop in Urapakkam on Saturday night, when an argument erupted between him and a few others. As it escalated into a scuffle, a few men who reached the spot in a two-wheeler hacked Veera with weapons and fled the spot.
Shocked passers-by rushed him to Chengalpattu Government Hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.
On information, the Guduvanchery police registered a case and sent his body for post-mortem examination. A hunt has been launched for the gang. The police suspect that he could have been murdered for revenge. Special teams have been formed to nab the murderers.
The police team investigating the case believe that the initial argument was staged to divert the victim’s attention and set the stage for the killing by the gang who arrived on bikes, and are expecting to get a clear picture once the suspects are nabbed.
