Chennai
The police said that the accused, Dominique Raj of Choolaimedu, and the victim, Moorthi of Vandavasi, became friends while working at a factory a few years ago.
Dominique allegedly told Moorthi that he knows of better job opportunities in Armenia and informed that an advance payment of Rs 5 lakh needs to be paid as a fee to get the visa.
Believing him, Moorthi arranged loans and gave him Rs 5 lakh. Later, Dominque gave a work visa and the employer’s particulars to Moorthi.
However, when Moorthi reached Yerevan, the Armenian capital, the immigration officials there detained him as the visa was fake. The nation had no company as mentioned in the visa.
After Moorthi was deported to India, he went to Dominique and demanded his money back. While he initially agreed to return the sum, he later allegedly started to threaten him.
Based on Moorthi’s complaint, the Airport police registered a case and arrested Dominique.
