Man who supplied gun to SSI killer arrested
Tamil Nadu police arrested a man from Bengaluru, who allegedly supplied guns to IS sympathisers, including the militant who is believed to have shot SSI Y Wilson to death on January 8.
Chennai
Tamil Nadu Q branch identified the arrested person as Ejaz Pasha (46), a driver from Bengaluru. The police suspect that Pasha, who drives a private bus between Bengaluru and Mumbai, had transported the parcel containing guns from Mumbai and handed it over to the fundamentalists. “He had transported the parcel knowing well they contained guns. But somebody else has paid for it,” sources said.
Three guns were given to Mohamed Haneef Khan, Imran Khan and Mohamed Zaid, members of Bengaluru module. They are being questioned by the State police since Friday. Based on information extracted from them, the Q branch arrested Pasha, who was remanded in judicial custody on Monday.
The police are yet to track down SSI Wilson’s killers, Thofeeq and Shammem.
Tamil Nadu and Karnataka police together have so far arrested 11 members of the module, and are looking for at least 14 more members of another module, police sources noted.
