Man posing as DVAC official held on Kamarajar Salai
The Anna Square police arrested a man for posing as a vigilance official on Thursday night. He was found using a four-wheeler fixed with a beacon light atop and the vehicle was also seized.

The accused was intercepted when Anna Square police inspector and his team were on a vehicle check near Labour statue on Kamarajar Salai on Thursday.
The police team spotted the vehicle with a board ‘State General Secretary, TN Vigilance Council of India’ and stopped it for verification. The vehicle also had a government emblem on it. The man in the Mahindra XUV 500 (TN 07CR 8140) identified himself as B Prasad Babu, a resident of Tiruvanmiyur.
When the police team questioned him, Prasad’s answers were incoherent. So the police asked him to show documents, which he couldn’t. He was allegedly carrying a fake identity card. The police added that he does not represent any government body.
They later arrested Prasad and remanded him in judicial custody.

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) trapped a town planning inspector attached to Avadi Corporation on Friday. The arrested was identified as Kamadurai, who alleged demanded Rs 1 lakh for approving a layout.
The DVAC team set a trap to nab the corrupt officer based on a complaint from one Ramesh of Sekkadu, Avadi. On Friday afternoon, when Kamadurai was receiving the amount, DVAC team led by DSP Lavakumar caught him red-handed and arrested him under the Prevention of Corruption Act near Pattabhiram Hindu College. The arrested officer has been remanded tojudicial custody.
