Victim chases snatchers, seizes bike and phones

The incident happened on Friday night when S Viji (32) of Vysarpadi was on his way back home on his two-wheeler. When he was near Choolai roundtana, two men on a bike who were following him hit Viji in a bid to snatch his mobile phone.

After their snatching attempt failed, the duo tried to flee. But Viji chased them on his bike and managed to intercept them near a mosque on RM Salai. Panicked by the turn of events, the snatchers abandoned their bike and mobile phones and fled in different directions.

Viji handed over the phone to Periamet police and lodged a complaint about the incident. Investigation revealed that the duo had snatched the phones in Aminjikarai using the bike that was stolen from Tiruvottiyur.

A case has been registered and a hunt has been launched for the duo with the help of CCTV footage.
