The deceased, Enos of Pattabiram, was a retired officer from Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE), Avadi, and a priest at a pentecostal church in Vallalar Nagar in the neighbourhood. While his two sons are settled in Bengaluru and abroad, he stayed with his wife Helen.

On Wednesday evening, a worker at the church turned on the lights inside the prayer hall and found Enos lying unconscious in a pool of blood. He alerted others and Enos was rushed to a private hospital. But he was declared brought dead.

Since the body had stab injuries, the Pattabiram police reached the church and conducted inquiries. As the priest’s helper was missing, a hunt was launched for him. Meanwhile, the police came to know that Moses was attending a mass prayer at a church in Irumbuliyur. The local police were alerted and Moses was secured.

Investigation revealed that Moses has a murder case pending against him at Sathyavedu, Andhra Pradesh and he has a history of substance abuse. The police said that Enos got into an argument with Moses over the latter’s past. Infuriated over this, Moses stabbed Enos and fled the spot.

Moses was booked under murder charges and remanded in judicial custody on Thursday.
