Fear of virus: Loadman’s body left on pavement for 7 hours

Later, authorities moved the body to the mortuary in Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH) with all the precautionary measures conducted.

The deceased, P Ravi, who was unmarried, had moved to his sister Sulochana’s house in West Jafferkhanpet a month ago due to loss of work during the ongoing lockdown. He is said to be an Asthama patient and his condition reportedly worsened in the last few weeks.

After the neighbours alerted the health officials that he was coughing often, he was taken to RGGGH for taking COVID test on Tuesday.

However, when he returned home, the landlord of Sulochana was allegedly hesitant to accommodate him after which Ravi had left the house. Since he died after giving the samples for the test, neighbours were reluctant to remove the body.

While the corporation staff said that they cannot remove the body unless he is a corona victim, health officials allegedly told them that results were not ready. However, the test results declared on Friday confirmed that he did not die of Corona, but prolonged illness.
