Though the contact from where the Additional Commissioner got the infection could not be established, sources said the officer had taken part in the CMDA meeting at Koyambedu market recently. The officer has been admitted to a private hospital in Porur.

The Deputy Commissioner in South Chennai who tested positive was part of bandobust duties, said sources. The DC and the Assistant Commissioner were admitted to the designated government hospitals in the city. After these officers were tested positive, samples were taken from around 60 people, including their personal security staff, camp staff and family members. All of them have been advised home quarantine. Their offices have been temporarily sealed and disinfected. Meanwhile, about 20 police personnel, including a DC, were discharged from hospitals. Sources said 35 of them were shifted to an isolation ward inside the IIT-Madras campus on Tuesday.
