Teen kills self hours after father’s death
Man committed suicide after his 16-year-old son scolded him over his addiction to alcohol. Hours later his death, the son also killed himself by hanging at Thirukazhukundram in Chengalpatty.

The deceased were identified as Arumugam (42), a daily wage labourer, and his son Anbu (16). Arumugam’s wife passed away six months ago.
Arumugham committed suicide after he was scolded by Anbu on Monday. Anbu used the same rope on Tuesday to hang himself.
The police said that they did not have any wages because of the lockdown and were struggling to meet daily expenses. On Monday, Arumugam, who went for work, bought liquor. Seeing his father consuming the alcohol, Anbu quarrelled with his father and even hit him. Following that, Arumugam locked himself in a room and did not come out for a long time.
On suspicion, Anbu broke open the door and found Arumugam hanging from the ceiling using a nylon rope. Anbu lowered the body and used the same rope to end his life. On Tuesday morning, neighbours found them dead and informed their relatives.
