834 Indians arrive by special flights from abroad
As many as 834 Indians from the US, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Japan, Thailand and The Netherlands arrived at the Chennai airport on Wednesday night.

The first flight arrived from The Netherlands with 139 Indians on Wednesday evening. After completing all checks, 137 of them were taken to various hotels in the city as only two had opted for free quarantine facility. The special flight from Saudi Arabia had 162 passengers including six children. While 119 of them chose the free stay in Melakotaiyur, 43 of them decided to stay in hotels. Of 212 Indians who arrived by flight from Qatar, 166 opted for free quarantine and the rest of the passengers were taken to hotels. Similarly, 56 passengers from the US and 122 from Tokyo arrived at the Chennai airport by special flights. On wee hours of Thursday. The special flight from Thailand, which arrived in the wee hours of Thursday, had 153 Indians, all of whom were employees of a private firm. After completing the formalities they were taken for quarantine to private hotels in city. The COVID test for them will be done at the hotels.
