All 37 containers of ammonium nitrate shifted out of Chennai
All the remaining 15 containers of ammonium nitrate were shifted from private CFS in Manali to Hyderabad on Wednesday, according to officials from Petroleum Explosives Safety Organisation. With the last batch of 15 containers moving out, all the 37 containers containing the chemical had been now shifted out of Chennai.

The 37 containers or ammonium nitrate kept by the Customs department in Sattva CFS since 2015 hogged the limelight after DT Next highlighted about it after an explosion in a warehouse, which stored the similar type of chemical, in Beirut, Lebanon, which killed over 100 people last Tuesday.
After a question of the safety and security of people living near the CFS because of the stored chemical was raised by Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board and PESO, the Customs department was either asked to sell it or shift it to magazines — a place for safe storage of explosive.
Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs also issued a circular pressing the need for fast disposal of such explosive chemicals.
Following this, Chennai Customs managed to find a buyer from Hyderabad and started moving the explosive chemicals from Manali CFS from Sunday, sticking to PESO guidelines and under the supervision of K Sundaresan, Deputy Chief Controller of Explosives, Chennai.
