Man seeks Rs 15 lakh assured in polls, beaten up by BJP cadre
A 67-year-old man was allegedly beaten up by BJP supporters near Nanganallur on Tuesday when he asked for Rs 15 lakh that was ‘promised’ by the party during election.
Chennai
The incident happened during the protest by BJP seeking action against DMK cadre who allegedly assaulted members of the national party following a dispute over wall painting. During the protest, the man – latest identified as Durai of PV Nagar in Pazhavanthangal – sought to know what happened to the Rs 15 lakh that was promised during 2014 polls.
Irked by this, BJP supporters attacked him. He was rescued by the police personnel, who took him to Pazhavanthangal station. Durai told the police that he was not affiliated to any party, and had come to the protest venue only to question the BJP about the unfulfilled promise. Meanwhile, BJP staged protests across the city during the day.
