Tiruchy Siva’s son caught in drunken brawl
Teynampet police are investigating a drunken brawl involving DMK Rajya Sabha MP Tiruchy Siva’s son Surya (37) at a star hotel on Anna Salai on Saturday night.
Chennai
According to police, R Shriram (38), zonal head of a private firm, was stepping out of the hotel around 11 pm when Surya and a few others threatened him at the parking lot to buy them four beers and tried to attack him with empty liquor bottles and torchlight, while simultaneously hurling murder threats.
Teynampet police have also received a counter-complaint from Surya in which he alleged that Shriram grabbed a liquor bottle from him at the parking lot which led to the quarrel. He also alleged that Shriram tried to stab him with a knife, but the security manager acted in favour of Shriram. Surya is said to have visited the hotel to celebrate his friend’s birthday and police said both Surya and Shriram were under influence of alcohol. Further investigation is on.
This is not the first time that the DMK MP’s son’s name is associated with a drunken brawl. In 2012, Surya and his friends quarrelled with hotel staff in Tiruchy Cantonment and Tiruchy Session Court police station registered a case. He later surrendered in court and was released on bail.
