The resto-bar Monk’s Plate in Injambakkam was raided on Saturday night based on a tip-off and liquor bottles and musical instruments were seized. As many as 20 men and women were let off with a warning. Investigation revealed that the bar’s manager Stalin (32) came up with the idea to host ‘birthday bash’ since there is a ban on parties due to lockdown. He roped in a DJ identified as Ganesh (26) of Padi and made a poster with the photo of one Vasanth (22) of Zam Bazaar. He circulated the poster on social media claiming anybody can walk in on payment of Rs 300, while it’s free for women. While Stalin was remanded in judicial custody, Adyar district police have warned of sealing of bars if parties are hosted against lockdown norms.
