The deceased, identified as Jayaram of Krishna Nagar in West Tambaram, was working a software engineer at a private firm in Singaperumal Koil. On Wednesday night, Jayaram was returning home from the office on his two-wheeler when on Tambaram-Mudichur Road, while trying to evade the portion dug up for laying pipeline, lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a median. He suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot. Police said Jayaram had worn a helmet but since he did not lock it, it came off when he fell from the bike.
