SRO earns Rs 3.1 cr in 6 yrs, DVAC pegs his DA at 591 pc
A probe by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption sleuths found that a sub-registrar in Palladam in Tirupur, whose total assets were pegged at around Rs 10 lakh in 2012 skyrocketed to Rs 3.1 crore in six years, of which Rs 2.6 crore worth properties were disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Sub-registrar Balamurga Prabahar had amassed the illicit wealth while working in various districts in western TN during the check period ended in 2018.
The available information makes out a prima facie case against Prabahar, that he owned pecuniary resources and properties in the name of his family members (parents) to the tune of Rs.2.65 crore which is around 591 per cent more than in known source of income during the check period, the FIR noted.
Though his likely savings was estimated to be Rs 34 lakh, the investigators found him and family members in possession of properties worth Rs 3.1 crore.
The accused had committed the offence of criminal misconduct by intentionally enriching himself illicitly during the period of his duty and he has been booked under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
