Aldabra giant tortoise goes missing from park
Mahabalipuram police are inquiring on a complaint that an Aldabra giant tortoise, one of the largest tortoises in the world, had gone missing from the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and Centre for Herpetology run by the Romulus Whitakerat Vadanemmeli near Mahabalipuram.

The cost of the missing tortoise is worth more than Rs 15 lakh in the international market, police said.
Since the farm is under CCTV surveillance, police suspect that the tortoise might have been stolen by insiders.
The farm has four exotic turtles called Aldabra tortoise, mostly from the Aldabra Atoll islands in Seychelles.
These turtles could grow up to 1.5 metres in length and weigh up to 225 kg. These turtles live on land for 150 to 180 years.
The Aldabra tortoise is an expensive pet and is sold starting for $1,000 depending on the size.
