MTC runs 310 specials to 5 termini for Pongal
The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) started operating 310 special buses from Monday for passengers going to their hometowns ahead of Pongal.

The special buses would be operated to help passengers reach the five bus termini in the city, from where more than 10,200 long-distance buses would be operated from Monday till Wednesday.Â
An MTC release said it would operate 310 special buses to the five termini, including the MGR bus terminus at Koyambedu, Madhavaram, MEPZ, Poonamallee and KK Nagar.Â
The MTC would be operating 116 services from all important routes to the Koyambedu bus terminus followed by 114 services to MEPZ, 57 to Poonamallee, 16 to Madhavaram and 7 to KK Nagar, it added.Â
On Monday, the State transport undertakings, including the State Express Transport Corporation, commenced operation of the buses, including specials on the long-distance route. As on Monday 4 pm, 1,458 buses, including 83 specials were operated from the city to various destinations, carrying 63, 508 passengers. Besides, 92,300 passengers have made reservations for their travel during Pongal.
