Car parking at Chennai Airport to have EV charging stations
According to the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the 2.5 lakh sq.ft. multi-level car parking with a capacity to accommodate over 2,000 cars will come into operation next month.
CHENNAI: The Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP) in Chennai airport to have electric vehicle charging stations and the car parking would be used from August 1. The Chennai International Airport is preparing for Phase II modernisation works, which envisages significant enhancement of the terminal and airside capacity. On the city side, the MLCP facility is nearing completion and can be used from August 1. The facility (2.5 lakh square feet) can accommodate more than 2,000 cars at a time, and will also offer commercial options including retail facilities, food courts and multiplex for visitors. Continuing with the efforts to augment the passenger’s experience at the airport, the MLCP will have Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations – 3 in west MLCP, and 2 in the east MLCP. Visitors driving to MLCP can pre-book for the EV charging slots and make payments on the dedicated app, which will also be functional on August 1.
