AIADMK HQ case transferred to CBCID, police tells HC
Recording the submissions, Justice Kumar directed the State to file a status report explaining the details of transferring the case documents to the CB-CID from the Royapettah police.
CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu police on Thursday informed the Madras High Court that the Director-General of Police (DGP) ordered the transfer of four cases booked in connection with the violence that exploded in the AIADMK party headquarters on July 11 and the subsequent charges of stealing documents and other items from the party head office to the Crime Branch – Crime Investigation Department (CB-CID).
Additional Public Prosecutor made this submission before Justice N Sathish Kumar of the Madras High Court. Justice Kumar was hearing a petition filed by former law minister and AIADMK leader C Ve Shanmugam, who sought direction to the police to file FIR against O Panneerselvam and his supporters for causing the violence and stealing the documents from the party office.
Recording the submissions, Justice Kumar directed the State to file a status report explaining the details of transferring the case documents to the CB-CID from the Royapettah police.
Shanmugam said that though the complaint was lodged with the Royapettah on July 23, no action has been taken against the accused. “OPS and his men stormed into the AIADMK office which led to the furious violence in the party office. They had taken away several crucial documents in 37 vehicles which were related to the HQ building and other offices of AIADMK in the state,” C Ve Shanmugam submitted through his counsel.
The APP noted that all four cases have been forwarded to the CB-CID and the probe is going on the right path.
