A team from Velachery police station rescued the two women from an apartment in Velachery after they received the ‘SoS’.
CHENNAI: Two sex workers who were kept hostage by a college professor and his friend after an argument over the services for the payment got themselves out of the situation by using the ‘Kavalan’ police app on Sunday.
A team from Velachery police station rescued the two women from an apartment in Velachery after they received the ‘SoS’.
Police sources said that the man, an assistant professor of a private college in Chennai outskirts, had hired the escort services through an agent online.
The agent, identified as Asha stuck a deal with the men and had asked them to pay up Rs 22,000 upfront for the escort services. Investigations revealed that the two men had picked up the ‘escorts’ from Koyambedu and took them to a guest house in Velachery.
The issue started between the men and the women after the women packed up after an hour and told that they were leaving.
The professor and his friend had argued with them that they had paid the agent Rs 22,000 to spend a day with them and refused to allow them to leave the apartment.
The women went to the washroom and sought police help to rescue them after which Velachery police rushed to the scene.
During enquiry, police found that all four have been cheated by the agent, Asha. The women were sent home and the men were let off with a warning, police said. Police are now looking for agent Asha.
