CHENNAI: Finance Minister P Thiaga Rajan and BJP state president K Annamalai sparred over ‘aggressive politics’ taking the State’s political culture to a new low. Responding to Annamalai’s aggressive politics remarks without naming him, the DMK leader tweeted why he wouldn’t even address him by name and accused him of engineering the ‘slipper throw’ incident.

Annamalai, on Tuesday, clarified in an audio clip about the incident in which BJP cadre threw slippers at the minister’s car that had the national flag in it. He acknowledged the audio of his conversation with his party functionary but added that DMK party released the audio after deleting and adding some words. He added that he’d continue his aggressive brand of politics and wanted his party cadres to follow it too.

After the finance minister tweeted with a “goat emoji” without naming Annamalai, the BJP leader tweeted: “Finally, You are not worthy enough for my Chappals. I’ll never stoop to your level to orchestrate something like that. Don’t worry!”

He added: “Mr PTR, your problem is this: You & your coterie, who only live with your ancestors’ initials, cannot accept a self-made son of a farmer who also proudly practices farming – as a person. Have you done anything worthwhile in this life except being born to a great lineage & a silver spoon? You are a curse to politics & our state!” he tweeted.

The political discourse which had improved over the last few years is taking a nosedive.
