    BJP councillor booked for gathering crowd inside temple

    CHENNAI: Chennai police have booked BJP councillor Uma Anandan for allegedly gathering a crowd inside Kapaleeswarar temple in Mylapore without prior permission and delivering a political speech.

    Police sources said that the incident happened on August 31, when the Ward 134 councillor along with party cadres gathered people and delivered political speech inside the temple.

    Based on a complaint from the temple management stating that the councillor did not obtain prior permission for such a gathering, a case was registered at the Mylapore police station under Sections, including gathering in public places without notice, deterring public servants from duty and public nuisance.

    City police have sent a summon to Uma Anandan to appear before the investigation officer for enquiry.
