Kumari and her husband John had built a house in the land given to them by the government a few years ago.
TIRUVALLUR: A 58-year-old woman submitted a petition to the Tiruvallur Collector on Friday alleging that a relative has grabbed their land allocated by the state government and is refusing to return it.
The complainant J Kumari, a resident of Vidayoor village met Collector Dr Alby John Varghese and lodged a complaint on her relative Rajinikanth claiming that he had taken possession of their 2.5 cent land allotted by the government in return for some cash they had borrowed from him. Kumari and her husband John had built a house in the land given to them by the government a few years ago. However, when they fell into hard times, the couple borrowed Rs 1.8 lakh from their relative Rajinikanth.
“He reportedly gave us the money after taking signatures in a blank paper which he later used to claim ownership of the land and house,” the petition said.
Rajinikanth also had built a wall around the house and prohibited them from entering their own home. “My husband who is an asthma patient and I are currently working on a farm and residing there,” Kumari said. She requested the Collector to take necessary action at the earliest on Rajinikanth and help them take possession of their land.
