Guard pays Rs 25K to steal owner’s house, escapes with valuables

CHENNAI: Two men, who were allegedly hired by a watchman paying a sum of Rs 25,000 to break into the house of a businessman and loot Rs 10 lakh, have been arrested at Chetpet.

The guard, Trivendra Rajan (22), had reportedly hired a gang of 5 men to loot the house. After paying Rs 25,000 each of them, the security guard escaped with at least Rs 10 lakh worth of cash and gold ornaments.
Police are now on the look out for Tirvendra Rajan and three other accomplices of his. The Abhiramapuram police registered a case on September 15.
Police said that two accused involved in the burglary have been arrested. Trivendra Rajan has been working in the house of Bansidhar Gupta, who runs a wholesale shop of imported goods in Parry’s Corner. Police said that on September 14 evening, his mother Manju Gupta locked the house and went to meet a relatives’ house.
When Bansidhar returned home he found that the house was burgled and about Rs 10 lakh worth gold and cash were stolen, police said.
Based on the complaint, special teams were formed and two men - Kailash, (23) and Baazi Damai, (25) - both from Nepal, were arrested. After preliminary investigation, police said, Rajan had hired five men from Nepal, working in different locations inthe city to loot the house.
“Rajan had paid Rs 25,000 each. While he and three others escaped to Nepal, two were caught by the city police before they could escape from the city,” he said.
A special team had rushed to Nepal to nab the main accused and retrieve the valuables.
