TV actor found unconscious in Koyambedu bus terminus dies

CHENNAI: A 34-year-old Television actor, who had played prominent roles as a child artist in television serials, allegedly died by suicide. Police sources said that the man, identified as Lokesh was found unconscious in one of the platforms in Chennai Mofussil Bus terminus in Koyambedu on October 3.

He was rushed to a hospital, where he died without responding to treatment on Tuesday night. Preliminary investigations revealed that Lokesh had consumed a poisonous substance in a bid to die by suicide.

Police said that Lokesh, a native of Kancheepuram was living with his wife and two children in Villivakkam. He had featured as a child artiste in prominent television serials like Marma Desam, Jeeboombaa among others and had also acted in several films. According to his colleagues in the industry, who posted tributes on twitter after learning of his death, he was also trying to become a filmmaker.

Police sources said that there was a domestic dispute at his home with his wife recently, which police suspect might have forced him to take the extreme step. His wife was staying separated from him.

A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
