Surrogacy soup: Wikki-Nayan wedding registered in 2016?
If the reports turn out to be true, the couple has put an end to the controversy over surrounding their surrogate children.
CHENNAI: Coming as the latest development in the surrogacy row director Vignesh Shivan and actress Nayanthara are embroiled in, the couple has reportedly submitted their wedding registration certificate dated in 2016, suggesting that they have been married for six years.
Surrogacy laws in India require a couple to stay married for a minimum of five years to opt for surrogacy. If these reports are anything to go by, the Kollywood couple has settled this controversy once for all.
For the unversed, Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara were caught in the eye of the storm after the former informed on social media that they have become parents to twin boys. Social media erupted about the legality of surrogacy as it was only four months since they entered the wedlock.
Subsequently, an enquiry committee was set up to fact-find about the procedures followed by the couple. It was learned upon enquiry that a relative of Nayanthara from Dubai agreed to be the surrogate mother.
However, DT Next is yet to independently verify this development.
