Several women cadres have participated in the protest, condemning the DMK functionary for his disparaging statement against the party women leaders Khushbu Sundar, Gayathri Raghuram, Gautami Tadimalla and a few others. Ironically, the four actors did not participate in the protest.
The police picked up the BJP leader and cadres for attempting to stage the protest without prior permission from the police department. They were taken to a marriage hall in the vicinity at about 5 pm. They raised slogans against the DMK government for not arresting the person, who made derragotory comments on women leaders of their party. After nearly 2.30 hours, they were let go.
The BJP functionaries took to social media to condemn the arrest of their party leader and vent out their ire that the ruling party would soon pay for its wrongdoings.
