Covid-19: Mysuru district declared Red Zone, security beefed up
As many as 19 cases of Coronavirus have been reported in the district so far, 17 of which are said to be employees of jubilant factory in Nanjangud town or those who were in contact with them.

The Karnataka government has declared Mysuru District as 'red Zone' following increase in the number of Covid-19 positive cases.
The district police have further intensified the security and is keeping close watch on those who come to roads violating the lockdown guidelines.
As many as 19 cases of Coronavirus have been reported in the district so far, 17 of which are said to be employees of jubilant factory in Nanjangud town or those who were in contact with them.
The number of cases is suspected to further shoot up in the district. As a precautionary measure, Nanjangud town has been completely sealed with all the highways leading through the temple town closed.
Nanjangud had been declared as a 'containment area' with multiple cases and the entire town has been placed in 100 per cent Lockdown barring some essential services.
All the patients in the district, who have tested positive for Novel Corona virus (COVID-19), are being treated at the New District Hospital on KRS Road (near PKTB Sanatorium) with doctors and other supporting medical staff taking care of them round-the-clock.
The new District Hospital has readied 150 beds, 50 beds in each of its three floors, exclusively for COVID-19 patients with an objective of meeting emergencies even as COVID -19 cases continue to rise in the state.
Of the 14 COVID-19 patients, three who had tested positive earlier, were hitherto being treated at the COVID-19 Ward in KR Hospital while eleven others were directly admitted at the District Hospital.
With the new District Hospital becoming the Centre for COVID-19 treatment, the doctors are working round-the- clock in three shifts, with three peripheral doctors, two doctors from the Medicine Department of KR Hospital and four nursing staff, supported by four sweepers working in each shift.
Apart from the new District Hospital, the AYUSH Hospital located close by too has been readied with 100 beds for meeting any medical emergencies. It may be mentioned here that the District Administration has already taken over BM Hospital on Hunsur road for the purpose.
In the meantime,the prohibition section 144 has imposed continued from midnight of Wednesday to April 14 midnight.
The District Administration has opened ten shelter homes across the city to provide food and shelter to homeless and the needy. District Incharge Minister V Somanna visited the Centres and spoke to them inmates.
Around 162 people who were supposed to go to Rajasthan have now been kept in city hall and are being provided with food and other facilities. The Minister said that the government is with the people and it wold do everything to tackle the situation.
