Supreme Court to hear petition seeking probe into Haridwar hate speeches

"We will take up the matter," Chief Justice of India NV Ramana said to Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, who has moved a petition in the top court. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing in the PIL, mentions the matter before a Bench headed by CJI NV Ramana that the slogan of the country seems to have changed from 'Satyameva Jayate' to 'Shasatrameva jayate'.

Clips from the event - held from December 17 to 20 - were circulated on social media and drew sharp criticism from former military chiefs, activists and even tennis legend Martina Navratilova.

Recently, an FIR was lodged against 10 persons in connection with a Dharma Sansad held in Haridwar where hate speeches were allegedly delivered by some participants against Muslims.
