WASHINGTON: 'Ozark' fame Julia Garner is set to captivate audiences once again in the upcoming New Line horror thriller, 'Weapons'.
The news was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.
The film, directed by Zach Cregger, marks a reunion of the creative team behind the acclaimed horror movie 'Barbarian'.
Garner's star power continues to rise as she secures the lead role opposite seasoned actor Josh Brolin. Production for 'Weapons' is scheduled to commence in mid-May in Atlanta, promising an atmospheric and chilling experience for horror enthusiasts.
Described as an interrelated, multistory horror epic, 'Weapons' is expected to deliver a gripping narrative reminiscent of Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia. Cregger, who penned the top-secret script, aims to evoke a sense of dread and suspense that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the project also reunites the producing team behind 'Barbarian', with Roy Lee of Vertigo, and JD Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures joining forces once again. Miri Yoon of Vertigo will also serve as a producer, ensuring the film maintains the same level of quality and intensity as its predecessor.
In addition to 'Weapons', Garner is currently involved in other high-profile projects, including Paramount's psychological thriller 'Apartment 7A' and Blumhouse/Universal's 'Wolf Man', directed by Leigh Whannell in New Zealand.
Furthermore, Garner recently made headlines with her casting as the Silver Surfer in Marvel's 'Fantastic Four', alongside Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The highly anticipated feature is set to film in London later this summer.
