Cheating case filed against Chennai Deputy Mayor
Esakki Ammal in her complaint said the partners of her deceased husband and Deputy Mayor Magesh Kumar took over the business without giving her any compensation.
CHENNAI: CHENNAI: Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the City Police have filed a case against six persons including Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) Deputy Mayor, M Magesh Kumaar and the son-in-law of Co-operatives minister, K R Periyakaruppan for allegedly forging documents to take over the business shares of a deceased man.
While the deceased man's wife has been filing complaints since December 2021, City Police have registered a FIR (First Information Report) after a court direction.
Police have invoked IPC sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery), 471 (fraudulently using a forged document as genuine) among others. Apart from M Magesh Kumaar, the others named in the FIR are P Gunasekaran, son-in-law of Minister for Cooperatives K R Periyakaruppan, K Balamurugan, K Divakar, N Selvarajan and Sathya Priya, District Register (Nandanam).
The complainant A Esakiammal's husband S R Mohan was one of the shareholders in the city-based M/s Mars mines along with Gunasekaran and few others.
Mohan who was suffering from prolonged illness and died in April 2021.
"The partners including Gunasekaran and Balamurugan brought in the Deputy Mayor Mahesh Kumar as the director of the business and without providing proper compensation to Esakiammal and her children, they took over Mohan's shares in the entity, " said a senior police officer.
According to Esakkiammal's complaint, the former business partners had forged documents by using Mohan's signatures as if he were alive. CCB registered a case on August 18 following the direction from Metropolitan magistrate court, Saidapet.
