    CHENNAI: With the merit list released last week, the much awaited counseling for teaching aspirants seeking B.Ed courses for the 2024-2025 academic year in Tamil Nadu has begun on Monday.

    This year the admissions to B.Ed courses in government and government colleges was completely online from registration to seat allocations.

    A senior official from the Higher Education Department (HED) said that for the candidates, who do not have internet access, the admission process was also done with the assistance of Admission Facilitation Centers (AFC), which was established in all the districts.

    Stating that the registration process for this academic year (2024-2025) for the B Ed courses started from September 16 to 26, "the total number of seats available this year will be 2,040".

    Pointing out that the counselling will be conducted physically for the students according to the merit list, he said based on the choice of college, seat allocation will be made for the candidates, who had participated in the counselling.

    Meanwhile, the state government on Monday announced that since a red alert was issued for Chennai district, the counselling, which was about to be held at Lady Willingdon college here, has been postponed to October 21.

    He said after the counselling the tentative allocation of seats will be released.

    The official said once the students have confirmed their seat allocation, the final provisional list will also be released and students should report to their respective colleges in the fourth week of this October.
