    CHENNAI: With the workers of home appliance giant Samsung’s manufacturing unit continuing their strike seeking better pay and other demands, the Tamil Nadu government deployed Ministers TRB Rajaa, TM Anbarasan and CV Ganesan to hold discussions with them to bring an end to it.

    The strike by Samsung workers is now entering its fourth week. Though Labour Department officials held five rounds of negotiations, with workers refused to relent from their demand for wage hike, recognition for the CITU-led workers' union and a reduction of working hours.

    With all efforts till now failing, the ministerial team have now been deputed to find a solution and end the strike, which has affected production at the Samsung unit in Kancheepuram that accounts for nearly a third of the company’s revenue in India.

    On Tuesday, over 900 members of CITU, including employees of Samsung Electronics, were arrested by the Kancheepuram police for staging a road blockade.
