They said that the workers were demanding registration of the Samsung India Workers’ Union and should negotiate an amicable settlement of the demands placed by the union. Accusing the police of becoming an instrument of repression of Samsung, they said, “As usual, questions are raised whether the labour department’s refusal to register the union and police intervention are acting against government policy.

“Hence, we seek the intervention of the chief minister to direct the labour department to issue a registration certificate to the Samsung India Workers’ Union and labour officials to hold negotiations with the workers’ supported union to end the strike. We will hold a demonstration on October 5 in Chennai on this demand,” they said.
