Maha Ganapathy Yaagam in Thanjavur Big Temple ahead of consecration ceremony

Thanjavur Big Temple consecration is all set to take place on February 5. Ahead of this auspicious ceremony, Maha Ganapathy Yaagam was conducted in the Big temple on Tuesday morning. Sivaacharyas took part in the Yaagam by reciting mantras.

After the Yaagam, Brahmacharya pooja, Dhana pooja, Lakshmi Yaagam and Navagraha Yaagam took place in the temple. Young unmarried girls were seen taking part in the Kanya pooja, while married women conducted the Sumangali pooja.

After the poojas were over, the holy water from the Yaagam kalasam was brought to do abishegam to Dwaraka Vinayagar in temple's entrance. Devotees witnessed the abishegam to seek blessings from Lord Ganapathy. Poorvaanga pooja will take place in the temple until February 1. Kaala yaaga pooja will begin after 6.30 pm on February 1.
