DMK scared of civic polls, says Kadambur Raju
The DMK is not prepared enough to face ensuing local body elections as the party was scared of it. Since the DMK was scared of civic polls, the party moved the Supreme Court and filed a fresh petition seeking to stop the polls, said Minister for Information and Publicity Kadambur C Raju.

The DMK-led combine’s victory in the Lok Sabha polls this year proved to be ephemeral since the mood of electors changed in just 20 days after the elections and the AIADMK achieved victory from many Assembly constituencies, which faced bypolls. “It revealed the true colour of the DMK,” said Kadambur Raju.
The Minister, along with officials on Monday inspected streets in localities inundated after days of pounding rain in parts of Thoothukudi. After inspecting, the Minister told reporters that the AIADMK would certainly win the local body polls.
The State Election Commission has issued notification for the conduct of local body polls early on Monday and both Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam would decide on forging alliance with political parties ahead of the local body polls, he informed.
However, the Chief Minister had already indicated that alliance with parties during the Lok Sabha polls would continue. Further, Raju said his party would welcome the Election Commission’s announcement that polls would be conducted in two phases for rural local bodies, which he termed as ‘good practice’ as it would not affect the people.
The Minister was accompanied by Collector Sandeep Nanduri, Special Monitoring Officer Kumar Jayant and Commissioner of Corporation VP Jeyaseelan, sources said.
