Property dispute: Man hacked to death by relatives in T’malai
A mobile phone shop owner was hacked to death by five of his relatives over property dispute near Thandarampattu in Tiruvannamalai district on Thursday.

According to the police, Amarnath (26), son of Marimuthu and a resident of Mudiyanur village near Thandarampattu, owned a mobile phone shop on the Thandarampattu-Sagthanur road. On Thursday, Amarnath closed his shop in the afternoon and was on his way to their field to provide lunch for his parents. When he was walking to the field, a group of 5 armed persons with deadly weapons came towards him. On seeing them Amarnath started running but the gang chased him down and hacked him with the knives before fleeing from the spot.
Marimuthu and others who witnessed the hacking immediately rushed Amarnath to the Tiruvannamalai Government Medical College Hospital from where he was referred to the Vellore Government Medical College Hospital for further treatment. However, the victim succumbed on the way. The Thandarampattu police have registered a case and the investigations are on.
Meanwhile, Marimuthu and his relatives already have property dispute cases pending in the Vanapuram and Thandarampattu police stations.
