    Cops claim breakthrough in Wilson case, confident of nabbing duo soon

    While the accused in the recent murder of Special Sub Inspector of Police Wilson at Kaliyakavilai check post in Kanniyakumari district are yet to be arrested, the police said that the investigating teams have achieved breakthrough in the case and added that the accused would be nabbed soon.

    With sources mentioning the aggrieved relatives of the deceased police official relying largely on the police for nabbing the accused at the earliest, South Zone Inspector General KP Shanmuga Rajeswaran said the investigating teams formed in the wake of Wilson’s murder have achieved breakthrough in the case. Nearly 50 suspects have so far been interrogated in connection with the incident, he added.

    Meanwhile, the police have released a leaflet with images of Abdul Shameem (32) and Thoufiq (28), the prime accused in the case, with contact mobile number 7010363173 (reachable on WhatsApp also) and landline 04652-220167 encouraging the public to disclose any information on the whereabouts of the duo. 

    Those with valid information can also approach the Special Branch police office at Nagercoil for action, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Tirunelveli Range), Praveen Kumar Abinapu, said. The informants need not hesitate to share intelligence as secrecy would be maintained, he added.

    Further, the DIG said that the Kerala DGP, too, had announced a cash reward. Having received calls through the contact numbers mentioned above, informants were verified to ascertain authenticity. But a few calls proved to be of no use, the DIG said.
