Court asks youth to regulate traffic as punishment for offence
In a novel punishment to a minor traffic offender, the Tiruchy Court ordered him to regulate traffic in the busy hours for two days from Friday, monitored by the traffic police officials, who are also asked to give a report on his performance.

In 2018, Balamurugan from KK Nagar was riding a bike with four persons, including his younger brother in the pillion, in an inebriated condition and scared the other road users with high speed at Kattur highway and the bike hit another vehicle that was proceeding in front and all the five in the bike fell down and fortunately sustained minor injuries.
On seeing this, the members of the public who had witnessed the scene recorded on their mobile phones and spread in the social media which went viral during the time. On information, the traffic police levied fine to Balamurugan and also registered a case with the Principal Magistrate Court (Juvenile Justice Board) as he was a minor then.
Meanwhile, the case came up for hearing on Thursday and the Magistrate L Shakila ordered Balamurugan to regulate traffic for two days- Friday and Saturday, with the traffic police officials at the MGR Statue roundabout, the rather very busy spot in the city in order to ensure the youth to learn discipline on road. The magistrate also asked the traffic police to submit a report on Balamurugan’s performance and his conduct with the court.
As per the order, Balamurugan came to the spot on Friday around 9 am and started to regulate the traffic that was monitored by the Traffic Intelligence (South) police Inspector Karthikeyan. Balamurugan was offered a traffic warden coat with a reflector and the inspector instructed him the regulations and methods to regulate the traffic.
