Justice P Rajamanickam before whom the plea came on Monday, Murugadoss’s counsel made a submission of withdrawing the plea. He said following assurances from the distributor’s council through a letter to the Directors association that no threat would emanate from any of the distributors, it has been decided to withdraw the police complaint and hence there was no need to proceedfurther.

The Government counsel appearing on behalf of the Teynampet police produced a letter written by the director seeking to withdraw his complaint and hence the police, which had registered the case against 15 such distributors had not proceeded further.

On Recording the same, Justice Rajamanickam condemned the director’s attitude towards the court. He said the director will file a case seeking police protection. The court in turn will order notice to the police on the action taken. The police would also proceed to register a case. Following this, the director would come around and say that no action is required as a compromise has been stuck.

Does the court have to act to the tunes of the director? the judge wondered before closing the plea.

Murugadoss in his earlier plea had claimed that other than directing the film he had no role in distribution and other rights of the film. But on February 03, over 25 people claiming to be distributors of the movie, trespassed into his Teynampet residence and demanded him to compensate them for the losses they had suffered due to the movie.

Murugadoss also submitted that he was not liable for providing any money to anybody for the film, as it was the sole obligation and liability of the producer Lyca productions.
